Garena's Garena premier league (GPL) was introduced in the month of May. It is a professional online gaming competition that lasts over six months, and comprises over 100 games. The inaugural season of the GPL was the first online League of Legends tournament with six professional teams. These teams represent top players from the respective nations. GPL games are recorded and broadcast online along with commentaries, which are available for viewers to see on the GPL official website In January 2013 Garena has announced the return of the second season of the Garena Premier League, which would start on 4 January 2013. Garena Premier League 2013, that began on January 4 2013 will feature two teams that are each from Taiwan as well as Vietnam. It brings the teams' total to eight. The teams are AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Saigon Jokers, Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. The Garena E-Sports Arena, a venue for esports began operations in November 2014 at the Neihu District of Taipei. The studio was constructed to house an event called the League of Legends Masters Series - the highest-level LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league. The tournament was an offshoot of GPL. Garena established the Iron Solari League in January 2015. It is a League of Legends women's tournament which is played in the Philippines. This is a bimonthly affair that is played in the second half of every month. The goal is to promote participation from groups that are underrepresented and is open for all those who self-identify as female. In addition to tournaments that are competitive, Garena also organizes events that allow users to meet and connect offline. Garena holds the Garena Festival, which takes place in Singapore, Malaysia and other nations.
